Zaporizhzhya continues to prepare additional facilities for resettlement of internally displaced people from Donets’ka and Lugans’ka oblasts. One of the facilities set up for resettlement of for IDPs is situated at Lenin Avenue, 81. Previously the building was held by premises for the Center of alternative medicine practice. Upon completion of the lease contract and according to the order of the city Mayor Alexander Sin, it was decided not to put up the facility for tender, and refurbish it for temporary settlement of IDPs.
The shelter can accommodate more than 70 refugees. All the living rooms, bathrooms, other premises were completely renovated and remodeled. According to the Zhovtvevyj District Administration of Zaporizhzhya City, in the meantime 48 people have been resettled, who used to stay in Sanatorium-Health Improving Facility for Children “Chaika” that belongs to PJSC “Zaporozhtransformator” (ZTR).
Last week, the Chairman of the Zhovtnevyj District Administration of Zaporizhzhya City Council Alexander Manokhin and representatives of the District Administration have inspected the living conditions of IDPs in the building on Lenin Avenue, 81. As a result of the meeting the issues on supply of furniture and household appliances were resolved.
On Monday January 26, the facility was additionally supplied with two refrigerators and a washing machine provided with window curtains. All the activities were accomplished thanks to close cooperation woth the City Aid Center, the Red Cross Regional organization and the Public Utility Enterprise “Osnovanie”.
Dmitry Matyukhin, the Director of the City Aid Center, told that the Center provides ongoing assistance to refugees from Donets’k and Luhans’k regions, primarily to the most vulnerable groups, such as elderly pensioners, disabled. The center is raising funds for acquiring foodstuffs, clothing and other necessities.
Chairman of the Board of the City Aid Center, Tatiana Sulima, commended the cooperation of Zaporizhzhya volunteers with the City authorities: “Without the support of the City government, we would not be able to have such achievements, which is not the case in some other cities in Ukraine. Our City authorities quickly help to solve many organizational issues, – noted Tatiana Sulima.
